Hello my name is Doug and I am here to talk about cloning. Did you know that cloning is making an exact copy of something like an animal or even a human? In Edinburgh, Scotland in July 5th, 1996 the first successful clone was created. So there once was a successful cloned animal so there is proof that it can be done. There are many upsides and downsides to cloning. Let’s talk about the positives of cloning. Some people think that cloning is advancement in technology. One of the things you can do with cloning is bringing back an extinct animal or a dinosaur. Another good thing about cloning is that if someone gets injured or is in an accident and they loose and organ or it gets damaged they can clone one of their relatives or someone who is willing to have one of their organs cloned then the donor and the patient won’t have to lose the organ. (Interview) There are also some bad things about cloning. Some people think that cloning is going against Mother Nature. One of the bad things about cloning is that when you clone a baby it could possibly have different traits than were supposed to be on the baby. Another problem with cloning is that is very expensive. Another problem is that for cloning organs is that the person that is receiving the cloned organs they are sometimes not the right size and it could possible end up causing more problems that there were in the first place.(Interview) That is it for this broadcast thanks for listening. Good night.
Interview Today our guest is an expert on cloning who feels that cloning is a very good advancements in science.Hello Doctor Cornelius and welcome to our show. Thank you for having me. So what is your point of view on cloning? I think that it is useful for cloning organs and for making duplicates of animals for food. Also we could clone extinct species from DNA in bones, so we could clone a Dinosaur and see one someday.Do you think that we should use cloning on humans?Yes I think it would be very useful on humans, for example if somebody is in need of a transplant or is missing on organ one could be cloned and used instead of having to wait for one to be available.Thank you for joining us today and answering our questions. No problem. Today we have another guest who is also an expert but he feels that cloning isn’t a reasonable thing to waste time and money researching. His name is Dr. Turk, and strongly opposes cloning.Doctor Turk what makes you opposed to cloning? One of the main things that make cloning a bad thing is that it has a very low success rate, so it wouldn’t be much better if not worse than waiting for an organ to become available since it would take so many tries to get one. But don’t you think that it is a good idea to have somebody clone and organ instead of losing it completely. Yeah, it could be a good idea but there are side effects like different size or the organ couldn’t be fully functional and possible cause more problems. I see your point, thank you for coming to our show. Thank You.
